About Me
Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Michael Read. I recently earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I chose this major because it allowed me to study a variety of subjects. My main focus has been Film Editing and Information Technology, but I have also studied Computer Science, Web Design, Graphic Design, Sound Engineering, Software Development, Business, Communication, and Advanced English Classes.
In addition to my Bachelor's Degree, I earned an Associate of Science Degree in Information Technology from Gordon State College.
At the Georgia Film Academy, I earned my professional certification in film editing with Avid Media Composer, which is the industry standard editing software for Hollywood movies. I also became a certified Pro Tools user to do sound design.
In my free time, I taught myself how to speak Japanese, and I have been teaching Japanese people how to speak English over the internet since 2017.
I hope to find a job that will allow me to use what I have learned in a fulfilling way. I am confident that I can grow in any field I am placed in. I have learned how to take big problems, break them down into small steps, and tackle them one step at a time until the job is finished. Through being a lifelong learner and conquering one project after another, I hope to build my expertise in the career I find myself in, whether that be in film editing, tech, teaching, or a role that combines all of those passions.

I recently made a music video of all the best skateboard tricks that I've seen lately. It was a fun little project that I threw together pretty quickly. I feel pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Information Technology
Recently, I built an app that allows users to play the game of S.K.A.T.E. against an A.I. chatbot named SkateBot. For those who don't know, the game of S.K.A.T.E is a game that skateboarders all over the world play against each other. It's similar to the game of H.O.R.S.E. in basketball, but with skateboard tricks instead of basketball shots. It usually takes at least two people to play S.K.A.T.E., but what if you didn't have anyone nearby to play it with? That's the problem my app solves.
